Raising or working with neurodivergent children or youth is a journey filled with both challenges but also deep moments of connection. This live webinar is designed specifically for parents and caregivers of children with ADHD, offering a supportive, evidence-based guide to better understand the still largely unknown world of neurodiversity, empowering them in better navigating both the difficulties and wonders of their journey.

This is the first webinar in our series exploring neurodiversity, and it focuses on Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) through an up-to-date psychological lens. Whether the children or youth have been diagnosed with ADHD or are in the process of being assessed, this informative encounter will provide you with more understanding, clarity, and, hopefully, more hope and encouragement.

Who Is This For?

  • Parents of children diagnosed with ADHD
  • Parents who suspect their child may be neurodivergent
  • Educators or support workers working with neurodiverse children
  • Anyone seeking a clearer, kinder understanding of ADHD through a psychological lens

No prior knowledge of psychology or diagnosis is required – this session is jargon-free, warm, and solution-focused.

What You Will Learn

In this two-hour interactive session, you will:

  • Understand neurodiversity as a concept and how it shifts the way we view ADHD
  • Learn about the psychological characteristics of ADHD, including inattention, impulsivity, and executive function challenges
  • Discover brain-based explanations that move away from blame or stigma
  • Explore common comorbidities such as anxiety, dyslexia, and emotional regulation difficulties
  • Gain practical strategies for everyday life: managing routines, emotions, screen time, and schoolwork
  • Receive emotional support and reassurance that you’re not alone on this journey

Webinar Structure

Here’s how we’ll structure the two hours together:

1. Welcome & Introduction
We’ll begin by setting the tone, outlining the goals of the session, and briefly introducing ourselves. A short anonymous poll will invite you to reflect on your own parenting journey.

2. What is Neurodiversity?
This section introduces neurodiversity as a paradigm. Rather than viewing ADHD through a lens of “deficit,” we explore it as a different – and valid – way of experiencing the world.

3. Understanding ADHD – The Psychological Perspective
We take a closer look at the three main dimensions of ADHD: inattention, impulsivity, and hyperactivity. You’ll learn about executive functioning, how the ADHD brain works, and the unique strengths that often accompany the challenges.

4. Diagnosis and Co-Occurring Conditions
From how ADHD is assessed, to navigating myths and coexisting difficulties like anxiety or ODD, this segment helps you feel more informed and confident when dealing with professionals or schools.

5. Short Break + Reflection
Stretch, breathe, and respond to a quick reflection prompt – a chance to digest what we’ve covered so far.

6. Managing ADHD at Home and other settings – Emotional & Practical Strategies
We focus on real-life parenting tools: how to create structure without rigidity, how to manage emotional outbursts, how to support regulation, and why positive reinforcement outshines punishment.

7. Tools You Can Use Today
You’ll walk away with practical, low-tech tools like visual schedules, behavior trackers, and homework strategies that actually work. We’ll also recommend apps, books, and printable resources to help you long after the session ends.

8. Q&A and Wrap-Up
Ask your questions through the application chat (or live should time permit it), get further reading tips, and learn how to sign up for upcoming webinars in the neurodiversity series.

Why Awareness Matters

ADHD is not a result of bad parenting, and your child’s brain is not broken. When you understand how their mind works, you can change how you respond — and how they thrive. Parenting a neurodivergent child comes with unique emotional and logistical demands, but it also invites you into a deeper, more compassionate way of relating.

This webinar is about giving you clarity instead of confusion, and confidence instead of guilt. You’ll leave with up-to-date, science-backed knowledge, a deeper understanding and the reassurance that you’re not alone.

We look forward to seeing you at the webinar!
